Was born 04/05/1956 in a. Eltayskoe Kaskelensky district of Alma-Ata region, Kazakh SSR. He was graduated from the Kazakh Agricultural Institute (1979). Doctor of Biological Sciences (1991), Professor (2000), Academician of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences (1999), Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2013). An eminent scientist in the field of agrochemistry and the development of principles and methodology of adaptive-landscape farming systems. He worked as a senior researcher, head of laboratory, associate professor (1980–1992) of the Kazakh Agricultural Institute; Director (1992–2001) of the Vladimir Research Institute of Agriculture, Academic Secretary of the Department of Agriculture (2001-2014), Vice President (2002-2014) of the Agricultural Academy. Since 2013 - Director of the FSBI " VV Dokuchaev Soil Institute"
He is one of the developers of a set of methodological documents, GOSTs, widely used in the practice of chemicalization of agriculture; a complex of rational agrochemical and agrotechnological measures (rational doses, progressive forms and methods of applying phosphates, zinc fertilizers against the background of highly productive crop rotations, irrigation regimes, methods of tillage); a number of programs on agro-ecological land assessment using GIS technologies; models of adaptive landscape farming; landscape-based land management projects.
Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation (2007), Laureate of the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of education (2013), Awarded gold medals of the All-Russia Exhibition Center (1998, 2000). Published more than 300 scientific papers, including 9 monographs.
